Blackwater Escape and Evasion Adventure Race

THE COURSE!
The course has been designed so that the fastest teams will spend approximately:
• 5-7 hours running/trekking
• 5-7 hours mountain biking on farm roads, dirt roads, paved roads and single track trails.
• 5-7 hours paddling in creeks, large rivers and open water. The paddling will be done in 2 person kayaks/duckies.
Teams will also be:
• Swimming in a lake
• Top-rope climbing
• Rappelling
• Running the BW obstacle course
• Orienteering
• Doing the infamous SEAL team “log PT
• Taking part in other special BW events.
The Moyock area is relatively flat with some wooded and marshy areas. Temperatures in November can range from lows in the below freezing range to mid 70s. There can also be freezing rain or snow during this time of year.
The Blackwater Escape & Evasion Adventure Race takes place on and off of the Blackwater compound in Moyock, NC. The Blackwater compound has areas that are off-limits to the race. If a competitor travels in these non-permissive areas, he or she will be immediately disqualified from the race and will be escorted off the compound.
Some segments of the race course will take place in farming and rural areas, as well as some in BW training and housing areas. We ask that when passing any of these areas that you do so giving great consideration for the privacy and security of these areas.
